Irrigation Technician – Landscape Maintenance

Description: The irrigation technician’s responsibilities encompass the operation, adjustment, and maintenance of irrigation components and systems to ensure effective coverage and delivery to the landscape area. The preferred candidate should exhibit exceptional communication skills and possess a comprehensive understanding of all facets of landscape irrigation. They should also grasp the vital role of irrigation in supporting the landscape and have a general familiarity with landscape maintenance practices. Strict adherence to safety protocols and policies, including the use of mandatory personal protective equipment, is essential. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is advantageous, and a valid Florida driver’s license is a requirement. Responsibilities:
- Receive your work schedule from either the Irrigation Manager or the Account Manager.
- Proceed directly to the designated job site(s) at the beginning of your shift.
- Carry out irrigation inspections according to the predetermined schedule.
- Conduct thorough before and after inspections of the work sites.
- Program irrigation controllers as needed.
- Perform repairs on valves, heads, lateral and main lines, controllers, and communication wiring.
- Maintain a clean work site, prioritizing the reduction of safety hazards (including marking repair trenches, holes, trip hazards, or any potential safety risks to the public).
- Complete daily inspection reports and submit them promptly.
- Strictly adhere to all company driving safety policies and regulations.
- Conduct weekly inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept clean and well-maintained.
- Conduct daily or weekly inventory counts of equipment and supplies.
- Accurately track your work hours.
Physical Demands
Irrigation work is done outdoors in all kinds of weather. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting. Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; crouch; stoop or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
